“Do you approach a case differently today, then you did, let’s say, in the first five or ten years of your practice. You know, what changes have you made based upon that experience?”

“Well, I think, for one, the sex cases in the last ten years, twenty years, they’ve all changed because of the tools we have, such as the Amber Alerts, the Jessica Lunsford Act, all these different things where the penalties and the ability to prosecute them, it’s not just he said this, she said this. You have all this extra stuff. That’s going to come down on you if you lose.”

“People have become very educated, and people just…they don’t like that. So…some people will just find you guilty because man…maybe you did it, maybe… can’t have that problem. I can’t have that person walking around, which is completely opposite of our justice system. But that’s what happens. And so, in these types of cases, especially, do you want to take the… to trial with a child sitting there, crying about what happens? I mean, do you really think that’s going to go far?
I have found that juries will react on that rather than the actual evidence in that case, because the crime is even more heinous than murder for them. And they’re afraid that it will continue with happening versus the murder, the person’s death. Here we let this person go. He could be molesting other people if you’re wrong. So, I’ve found that the juries come down very, very hard, regardless of the damage.”
