I read in a number of articles where the person who was arrested, it’s a domestic violence thing but he says I didn’t hit my girlfriend, or I didn’t hit my wife, but I still went to jail, and I still had to post a bond. Why does it work like that?

I believe it’s a policy for a lot of police departments that they take both parties that are in a domestic violence situation to jail. If one says he hit me or she hit me, they let the judge make the decision on what happened when the people go to court. So, if you get arrested on a Friday, unfortunately, if you didn’t do anything but you were arrested on a domestic violence charge, you would need to bail out.
