It sounds like it’s very important for that friend or family member to NOT believe, well… to freak out, to get upset, to believe that they’re going to owe the money if he misses a court date because, you know, I mean, people make mistakes, of course. They understand that, I assume, after you bail them out, right? That they’re not going to owe it immediately and they’re going to be in trouble, because I would suspect that they are reticent to get involved if that were the case. But it’s not the case, so obviously you’re going to explain that to them, right?

Yeah, the court gives us 180 days from the time of forfeiture to bring that person back. If we need more time, then the court usually will extend that another 180 days for us to bring that person back. In certain cases that the person has left the jurisdiction of the court or maybe left the country, there’s motions that can be filed to explain to the court that we’ve located this person and they’re out of the country.
We identify them, we file a motion, we do everything we can so that the person signing doesn’t end up having to pay the bond off to the court. Because if they do, that meant that we had to pay it off.

So that, obviously, I hear all that extra work, and that’s a good thing to be able to impart to the co-signer and the friend or family right off the bat. That you’re on their side, it sounds like.

Right.
