“Hi, today we’re sitting with Spencer Freeman, an attorney in Pierce County, Washington. Handles criminal defense and personal injury all across Pierce County, and actually all the counties in the Peugeot Sound. Spencer, before we get into talking about specific topics, what I’d like to do first is spend a few minutes having you talk about the precautions, the procedures that you’re doing in this time of Covid-19 to help out potential clients that need help and contact you. Because I think it’s important that everybody knows what’s happening, and what service providers, professionals such as yourself, are doing to make sure the public is safe.

“Sure. And I think making people comfortable, in that they’re safe, is of utmost importance during this time. The first thing that we do is we offer to have any consultation, whether it’s an initial consultation, or meetings that need to occur as we process a case, to occur over some video conferencing application. Most common right now is Zoom. We have a Zoom account, and that can be done from any smartphone. So, we can send out invites. And that’s not just for the…when I meet with potential clients or with clients. It’s also in dealing with opposing counsel, and we’ve also been doing that in dealing with courts in certain instances.
From there, and sometimes it is important to have an actual in-person meeting or clients prefer that…we are absolutely open to that and open for that. For that, we have regular cleaners that come in and clean specifically with Covid in mind, and then we have disinfectants here, that get used, both before and after any meeting that we would have. So, we don’t do the handshake, at this point, and that can be a little awkward, at times, when you are first meeting somebody, just because of the societal norms. But we’re safe for people to come in.”
“Thank you very much. They need to know because, needless to say, life does go on, and they still need to have help from professionals, such as yourself, when an issue arises in their life.”

“And I think that…to be honest with you, I think that the courts and the professionals in the legal industry that I know recognize that not only life goes on, but these cases need to move forward. And to the best we can, we’re doing that. And I think the courts are doing the best they can to do that.”
“Well, yes…needless to say, as we’ve talked before, it can’t go on forever. So, if things are beginning to slowly open up, and it’s important that the public knows how you’re dealing with steps in the opening of the criminal justice, or actually, the legal system…period. Thanks very much, we’ll talk to you again.”
